안녕하세요, 2024년 제22기 유엔 전문가 교육 OT 및 예일대 모의유엔대회 소식 알려드립니다.

제22기 유엔 전문가 교육 대표단 학생들은 1월 중순 출국이었지만, 벅찬 기대감으로 이른 시점부터 사전 준비를 시작했습니다. 

Hello, we would like to inform you about the news regarding the 22nd UN Expert Training Orientation and the Yale Model United Nations Conference in 2024.

The student delegation for the 22nd UN Training Program departed in mid-January, but they eagerly began preparations in advance with high expectations.

2023년 11월 19일, OT를 통해 대표단 활동의 막을 올렸습니다. 당일 대원외국어고등학교에 모여 미래희망기구 이사장님의 인사말을 시작으로 활동 안내, 유순종 학교법인 대원 학원장님의 격려사, 대표단 선서를 진행했습니다. 서로 첫 대면이라 어색함도 있었지만, 모의유엔, 발표회를 함께할 조원을 확인하고 라포를 형성하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

On November 19, 2023, through the Orientation Training (OT), we kicked off the activities of the delegation. On that day, we gathered at Dangwon Foreign Language High School, and the event began with a welcoming address from the Chairman of the Future Hope Organization. The program included activity guidance, words of encouragement from Chairman Yoo Soon-jong of Dangwon Academy, and the oath-taking ceremony by the delegation. Despite the initial awkwardness due to it being our first face-to-face meeting, we confirmed our team members for the Model United Nations and presentation sessions, and spent time forming rapport.

이후 출국 전 다섯 차례의 사전교육에서는 예일 모의유엔(Yale MUN)의 의사규칙 및 특징, Resolution 분석, Position Paper 가이드, Opening Speech 피드백 등을 통해  전 세계 최대 규모로 알려진 Yale MUN을 대비하였습니다.

사전준비를 마친 대표단 학생들은 2024년 1월 17일 인천국제공항에 모여 출국하였습니다. 뉴욕 JFK  공항 합류 학생들까지 모여 제22기 대표단 학생들은 힘차게 여정을 시작하였습니다.

Following that, in the five pre-departure training sessions, we prepared for the Yale Model United Nations (Yale MUN), known as the world's largest, by covering its rules of procedure and characteristics, resolution analysis, position paper guidance, and feedback on opening speeches.

After completing the preparations, the student delegation gathered at Incheon International Airport on January 17, 2024. Joining the students at JFK Airport in New York, the 22nd delegation embarked on their journey with enthusiasm.

Day 1

첫 공식 행사는 콜롬비아 대학교 캠퍼스 투어로, 한국인 재학생 선배와의 간담회 세션의 멘토로는 외대부고를 졸업한 민진홍 학생이 대표단을 이끌어주었습니다.

The first official event was a campus tour at Columbia University. As mentors during the session of meetings with Korean senior students at the university, Min Jin-hong, a graduate of HAFS, led the delegation.

Day 2~5

1월 18일부터 21일은 전 세계 최대 규모의 MUN 대회로 알려진 예일 모의유엔(Yale MUN)에 참석하였습니다. 이번 대회는 반기문 전 유엔 사무총장님의 기조연설로 시작되었고, 몇몇 학생들은 사전에 직접 제출한 질문에 대한 답변을 받기도 하였습니다. 

From January 18th to 21st, we participated in the Yale Model United Nations (Yale MUN), known as the world's largest MUN conference. The event began with a keynote speech by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and some students had the opportunity to receive answers to questions they had submitted in advance.

이후 학생들은 각자의 Delegate Training을 수료하고 7차에 거친 Committee Session을 통해 역량을 펼쳤습니다.  

Afterwards, the students completed their individual Delegate Training and demonstrated their capabilities through seven rounds of Committee Sessions.

모의유엔 과정은 벅차기도 했지만 일정 중간 중간 Yale Day, Global Exchange Program, Delegate Dance를 통해 세계 각국의 청소년 대표들과 교류하며 열정을 나눌 수 있었습니다.

The Model United Nations process was intense, but amidst the schedule, events like Yale Day, Global Exchange Program, and Delegate Dance provided opportunities for the students to engage with and share their passion with youth representatives from various countries around the world.

1월 21일 폐회식 때에는 대표단 학생 중 양원준, Kedric Jovid Calibara 학생이 실력을 인정받아 수상하는 쾌거를 이루었습니다.

During the closing ceremony on January 21st, two students from the delegation, Yang Won-jun and Kedric Jovid Calibara, achieved notable success and recognition, receiving awards for their outstanding skills.
