안녕하세요, 2024년 제22기 유엔 전문가 교육 DAY 6~7 소식 알려드립니다. 

대표단은 아이비리그 예일대학교 본교에서 진행되었던 모의유엔대회를 성공적으로 마치고 1월 22일부터 뉴욕에서 유엔 본부와 인근 대사관에서 진행되는 유엔 본부 교육에 참여하였습니다.

Hello, we would like to share news about the 22nd UN Expert Training Days 6-7 in 2024. The delegation successfully concluded the Model United Nations Conference held at the main campus of Ivy League Yale University. Starting from January 22, they participated in UN Headquarters education in New York and nearby embassies.

Day 6

1월 22일 월요일에는 유엔 투어를 시작으로 2개의 전문가 강연이 이어졌습니다.

유엔 본부는 입국 못지않게 엄격한 출입제한이 있지만 미래희망기구 청소년 대표단은 유엔 공보국(UN Department of Global Communications; UN DGC)의 협조를 통해 교육 기간 동안 임시 출입증을 발급받을 수 있었습니다.

On Monday, January 22, the delegation commenced a UN tour followed by two expert lectures. While the UN Headquarters had strict entry restrictions, akin to immigration control, the Hope to the Future Association youth delegation was able to obtain temporary access passes for the duration of their educational program through the cooperation of the UN Department of Global Communications (UN DGC).

유엔 투어 전문가의 가이드로 유엔 General Assembly Hall을 비롯해 유엔 본부를 탐방할 수 있었습니다.  유엔의 역사에 대한 설명과 질의응답을 통해 학생들은 국제사회에서 유엔의 역할에 대해 생각해보는 시간을 가졌습니다. 뉴욕에 도착한 첫 날이었음에도 학생들은 집중력있게 투어를 마무리하였습니다.

Guided by a UN expert, the delegation had the opportunity to explore the UN Headquarters, including the UN General Assembly Hall. Through explanations about the history of the UN and a question-and-answer session, students had time to contemplate the role of the UN in the international community. Despite it being their first day in New York, the students concluded the tour with focused attention.

이후 첫 유엔 전문가 강연을 들었습니다. 연사님께서는 UN DESA 국장을 역임하셨던 풍부한 경험을 바탕으로 빈곤에 대한 새로운 인사이트를 공유해주셨습니다. 첫 번째 유엔 브리핑에서 학생들은 적극적인 질의응답을 통해 궁금증을 해결했습니다.

Afterwards, the delegation attended their first UN expert lecture. The speaker, drawing on their rich experience as the former head of UN DESA, shared new insights into poverty. During the first UN briefing, students actively resolved their queries through a question-and-answer session.

Francesca De Ferrari | UN-Habitat | SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities

두 번째 강연에서, 연사님께서 수십여 년의 경력을 바탕으로 빈곤이라는 사회적 특성이 사람들이 살아가는 환경에 미치는 영향에 대해 설명해주셨습니다. 실제 업무를 통해 경험하셨던 내용을 바탕으로 스토리를 풀어 설명해주시고, 질의응답 위주로 진행된 강연이었기에 더욱 기억에 남습니다.

In the second lecture, the speaker, with decades of experience, explained the impact of the social characteristic of poverty on the living environment. They shared stories based on their practical experiences, making the lecture memorable, especially as it was conducted in a question-and-answer format.

다음으로는 유엔 VR experience 활동을 진행했습니다. 이론 및 강연으로만 배웠던 환경, 평화유지군, 협력 등에 대한 주제를 실감나게 체험할 수 있는 시간이었습니다.

Next, the delegation participated in the UN VR experience activity. It was a time to experientially engage with topics such as the environment, peacekeeping forces, and cooperation, which they had previously learned through theory and lectures.

Day 7

1월 23일 화요일은 주유엔 대한민국 대표부 방문, 유엔 전문가 강연 3차례, 멘토링으로 다소 바쁜 하루였습니다.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the delegation had a somewhat busy day with a visit to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN, three UN expert lectures, and mentoring sessions.

국제무대에서 한국의 위상 및 역할에 대해 생각할 기회였습니다. 한국인으로서 세계로 뻗어나간 멘토들을 보며 학생들은 진로에 대한 생각을 구체화할 수 있었습니다.

It was an opportunity for the students to contemplate Korea's position and role on the international stage. Observing mentors who have expanded their careers globally as Koreans allowed the students to solidify their thoughts regarding their future paths.

Angelica Shamerina | UNDP | SDG7 Affordable and Clean Energy

Angelica 연사님께서는 코로나19 이전부터 여러 차례 미래희망기구 대표단을 위해 강연해주셨던 경험을 바탕으로 질문하는 학생들과 한명 한명 눈맞춤해주시며 답변해주시는 모습이 인상적이었습니다. 차세대 리더로서 재생에너지 사용, 환경오염과 기후위기 대응에 대한 깊은 고민을 하게 되는 시간이었습니다.

Based on her experiences delivering lectures for the Hope to the Future Association delegation multiple times before the COVID-19 era, Speaker Angelica engaged with students by answering their questions individually. It was impressive to witness her personalized responses and deep reflections on issues such as the use of renewable energy, environmental pollution, and addressing climate crises, as part of her considerations as a next-generation leader.

Gaelle Sundelin  |  UN Peacekeeping |  SDG16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

연사님께서는 유엔 평화유지군과 함께 파견되었던 경험을 중심으로 현재 국제사회의 필요와 파견국가의 협의에 따라 활동하게 되는 절차에 대해 상세히 다뤄주셨습니다. 평화 전문가로서 밝고 긍정적인 에너지로 학생들에게 큰 영감을 전달해주셨으며, 교육 기간 중 개최되는 World Education Day 기념 행사에 미래희망기구 대표단 학생들의 활동을 소개해주기도 하셨습니다.

The speaker shared detailed insights into the procedures and experiences related to their deployment with the UN peacekeeping forces. They discussed the current needs of the international community and the activities carried out in accordance with the agreements of the deploying countries. As a peace expert, the speaker conveyed a positive and inspiring energy to the students. During the education period, they also introduced the activities of the Hope to the Future Association delegation students at the event commemorating World Education Day.

학생들은 세계화 시대에서 어떻게 파트너십을 구축하고 SDG를 위해 협력할지 생각하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 특히, 연사님께서 유엔에 처음 입사하게 되신 계기와 이에 얽힌 스토리를 이야기해주셔서 더욱 학생들의 기억에 남으리라 생각이 됩니다.

Students had a moment to reflect on how to build partnerships and collaborate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the era of globalization. In particular, the speaker's sharing of their journey and stories related to their initial entry into the UN likely left a lasting impression on the students.

조안젤린, 임은주, 류은주 | KOWIN NW | Global Career

학생들은 호텔로 복귀하여 청소년 멘토링 세션에 참가했습니다. 조안젤린님은 대표단이 묵은 호텔의 회장이자 현 글로벌 어린이 재단 총회장을 역임 중이시며, 임은주님은 아밀로이드솔루션 글로벌 사업개발 수석 매니저, 전 ‘재미한인과학기술자협회’ 뉴욕지부 회장이십니다. 류은주님은 동아 ST 제약 미국지사이자 ‘세계한민족 여성네트워크 뉴욕 지부’ 회장을 역임하고 계십니다.

The students returned to the hotel and participated in a youth mentoring session. Ms. Jo Angela serves as the chairman of the hotel where the delegation stayed and is currently the president of the Global Children's Foundation. Ms. Im Eun-joo is the Senior Manager of Global Business Development at Amyloid Solution, the former president of the 'Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association' New York chapter. Ms. Ryu Eun-joo is currently serving as the president of the New York chapter of the 'World Ethnic Women's Network' and is also affiliated with the Dong-A ST Pharmaceutical USA branch.

멘토링을 통해 국제사회의 다양한 글로벌 커리어 과정 및 글로벌 봉사단체에서의 경험을 접할 수 있었습니다.

Through mentoring, students had the opportunity to learn about diverse global career paths and experiences in international organizations, including global volunteer organizations.

대표단 학생들은 바쁜 일정 속에서도 호텔로 복귀하여 결과 보고서 작성 및 팀 발표회 준비로 하루하루 알차게 성장하였습니다.

Despite their busy schedule, the delegation students returned to the hotel and diligently worked on writing result reports and preparing for team presentations, allowing them to grow and make the most of each day.
